Nike Air Max LeBron VII Artist Series Akron by James Hayden »

At a presentation that took place during Nike’s grassroots activities in Akron, James Hayden gave James an uniquely designed pair of Air Max LeBron VII shoes. James Hayden is a 34-year-old certified tattoo artist, born in Cleveland Ohio. Mother Maureen Hayden helped hone his artistic skills from day one, which gave Hayden a true love for the visual arts. Hayden attended many art programs and classes at the Cleveland Museum of Art from ages 8-15, and furthered his art education at Cleveland Heights High School. In 2000, Hayden began to explore the art of tattooing, which soon after took off as a career. He opened his first tattoo shop in Cleveland Ohio in 2005. Hayden has built a great reputation as a tattoo artist by doing quality work and has tattooed many athletes including LeBron James. Hayden has continued to grow as an artist and is always interested in sharing his love for art with others. “My inspiration to design these shoes was driven by LeBron’s tattoos,” says Hayden. “As a tattoo artist, it’s such an honor to tattoo an individual like LeBron. He’s a very focused person on and off the court - his love for family and his loyalty to his city are shown repeatedly in his tattoos. I wanted to replicate his dedication wtihin the design on the shoes.” We previewed three upcoming artist VII’s and the Akron edition seems to be the most appealing among the six that’s been unveiled thus far. The more I look at the Black and White edition of the Soldier 3’s the more I fall in love with them. Those, who have been following LeBron James signature collection since day one surely remember a similar colorway of the Nike Air Zoom Generation - LBJ’s first Nike sneaker - consisting of White bottom and Black upper. That shoe, which dropped 5 years ago is already a classic and now we have an opportunity to witness another one. Plus, it doesn’t hurt the Nike Zoom Soldier III is a performance beast! Nike Max LeBron VII Chicago Artist Series Collaboration »

LeBron James received a one-of-a-kind customized version of his latest signature shoe as a gift from local Chicago artist Jeff Zimmerman. At a presentation that took place during Nike’s grassroots activities in Chicago, Jeff Zimmerman gave James a uniquely designed pair of Air Max LeBron VII shoes. A native of Chicago, Zimmermann has achieved national and international recognition for his large-scale murals featuring painted images of contemporary pop-culture and sensitively rendered portraits. Zimmermann’s pop-culture references range from innocuous consumer products such as beer cans, hard candy rings, and high heeled shoes, to more symbolically-charged images like portraits of political figures. The artist’s background as a graphic designer explains his shrewd use of flashy and graphic forms. Zimmerman was inspired by James’ achievements on and off the court. He wanted the shoes to express LeBron’s positive energy through color and motion. To represent Chicago, Zimmerman wove in the Chicago city flag. For a bit of levity, Zimmerman added “a Chicago-style hot dog symbolizing the fun that amateurs have trying to be a ‘hot dog’ on the court.” He included a worn-in Nike swoosh to represent the idea that “experience, plus practice and hard work, make us who we are.”
