By the late 1970's, the jogging boom in the US had spread worldwide and had quickly gained popularity in Japan. The centerpiece of Onitsuka™ jogging shoes was the California, named in honor of the birthplace of the popular activity. This was the first shoe to utilize mesh and reflective.
